Configuring a Router Default IP Address Easily

In doing a wireless router configuration setup, you need to know the router default IP address. This is especially true during the initial setup and when you haven’t changed the default. You need the IP address to access your router’s web page where you will perform the configuration setup.

One IP address is 192.168.0.1 the default for D-Link routers and sometimes also an alternate default for Linksys routers. Although routers are assigned their default addresses, you can always change it during the configuration of your wireless router connection.
Such is the case with 192.168.0.1. It is often used by network administrators as the IP address when configuring their wireless connectivity. This is because they find this IP address to be more effective in facilitating connections on their network.

If you have to change your default IP to 192.168.0.1, you need to access your configuration menu to set it up. These are the easy steps to do it:

1. Connect your router to your pc via the Ethernet cable. To start the configuration, make sure that both of your pc and router are turned on.

2. On your web browser, type the default IP address. This shall pull up the web page of your router. On the box that appears asking for your username and password, you can type the default password of ‘admin’. In certain models, you will also need to type ‘admin’ as your username.

3. Once logged in, go to the network settings where there is an option that allows you to change your router’s IP address. You can now enter a new IP address. When you click on the save settings you new IP address shall be saved.

The router default IP address is usually given in the manual that accompanies your router, including instructions on how to use it in setting up your wireless router connection. Alternately, you can also find the default when you view it from the router’s web page or configuration menu.

This is the reason it is important that you secure your router’s configuration page with a strong password. Otherwise, anyone can just access it, view your IP, and mess up your configurations causing you big headache not to mention compromising not just your connection but your privacy as well.

You must also know the importance of changing your router default IP address. Unscrupulous elements, especially those that are highly knowledgeable and skilled, can hack your connection first through your credentials (username and password) then through your IP address.

Changing the IP address from default to your preferred IP that is acceptable and within the networks range can make it extremely hard for these rogues to maliciously attack your connection and do their unscrupulous stuff.

A Look at a Link Sys Router

What is a Wireless Router?

Link Sys is just one of the most popular routers out there that are available in two forms – wireless and the regular corded routers. But currently, perhaps due to the advent of lap top computers and the fact that these lap top computers are fast becoming just as many as the mushrooms in the woods these days, the wireless type of Link Sys routers have proven themselves to be the more popular type of router.

But first and foremost, the question is, just what is a router? Basically, it is a gadget that sort of gives off digital data from computer to computer in the scope of what is called a computer data packet which is basically just all about computers that are interconnected. Well, that is a pretty much technical definition, but to put it simpler, we could simply put it as a device which allows a computer unit to access to this stuff we use to be able to connect to various computers around the world, known as the World Wide Web or the Internet. In the case of Link Sys, since we are going to talk about the wireless router, then we could only surmise that this whole connection thing is something that must be done on a per wave length basis, meaning, the computers that it is going to connect to have to be of the reach allowable for that particular Link Sys router for the computer to stay clearly connected to the Web. Fortunately now, due to the advent of more advanced satellite technologies, it is now fast becoming possible for those with Link Sys wireless routers to connect to a wider database of computers.
